BENEFITS OF HEARING AIDS

Helen Keller said "Loss of vision means losing contact with things, but loss of hearing means losing contact with people". Most hearing loss can be helped with hearing aids. Although they cannot make you hearing normal, they will make communication easier.

CUSTOM PRODUCT

In-the-ear Hearing Aids or Earmolds for use with behind-the-ear instruments are custom made from an impression of the ear. The type of hearing aid processor, is selected based on the individuals hearing loss and listening requirements. All instruments, even though they are custom ordered, are fitted on a "trial basis" - typically 30 to 60 Days. This adaptation period is needed to allow the wearer to adapt to listening with amplification and to make any necessary adjustment to fit or sound quality. If the fitting not successful (less than 10%), a refund will be given before the expiration of the trial period. The dispenser will retain a portion of the fee, typically $50 or $100 per instrument.

SERVICE LIFE

The average in-the-ear Hearing Aid lasts 3-5 years, a behind-the-ear instrument may last 4-6 years or more. The lifespan depends partly on the care and treatment it receives, changes in the hearing requirements, physical changes of the ear canal.

MAINTENANCE

Hearing Aids require ongoing service. Maintenance and repair needs may increase with the age of the instrument. Factory repairs to hearing aids are initially covered by the manufacturers warranty, typically 2 years.
